Milwaukee Tools Apprentice of The Month - Dmitriy Isayev
There’s a word that can be used to truly describe what constitutes an apprentice worthy of apprentice of the month: humility. When someone thinks about this month’s apprentice, Dmitriy Isayev, that is one of the first words that comes to mind. Despite being lauded by multiple journeymen, he remains implacably humble and true to his own standard of work and professionalism. It is with pleasure the Sacramento JATC awards him such an honor.
“I’ve always taken my apprenticeship seriously,” says Dmitriy, a fifth year. “My philosophy is if anything is worth doing, it’s worth doing right. I really do enjoy a challenge. I just get bored way too easily and so I love it when something difficult comes up for me to try and work out a solution.”
“He absolutely deserves it, one hundred percent,” says Jesse Naranjo, Dmitriy’s foreman. “He is one of if not the best apprentice I’ve ever had. He is a pleasure to have on the job site and just a great person to work next to.”
“Dmitriy is an incredibly bright spot in my classroom,” says Jacob Smith, fifth year instructor. “He is already making a name for himself in our local and I know he is going to be an excellent Journeyman when he turns out.”
It’s easy to count all the ways an apprentice needs to grow in their trade as an electrician, but Dmitriy doesn’t just stop at trade knowledge; he also has some sage words about how a person should be in society and within their own Union.
“Don’t be afraid to ask questions. We’ve all been there,” says Dmitriy when asked if he has advice for younger apprentices. “We all know what it’s like not knowing something. Don’t take shortcuts. Above all else, just be a good person and do the right thing, even if it isn’t as easy as the alternative. You’ll sleep better at night. We’re a community and we all have to help each other out to get better. So speak out about what you believe is right. That’s a great quality you can have as an electrician and a Union member. Be a good brother or sister.”
For his hard work, Dmitriy will receive a PACKOUT bag and hand tool from Milwaukee Tools and congratulations from all the staff at the Sacramento JATC.
