Milwaukee Tools Apprentice of The Month - Luis Rosales

There are times in the field when you meet someone and can’t help asking yourself, “How do they just keep going no matter what?” There is a tenacity inherent with being a tradesman, but there is also a raw strength and drive that creates a craftsman we can be proud to call brother or sister. This month’s apprentice of the month, fourth-year Luis Rosales, encompasses all these qualities and much more.

“My apprenticeship meant finding a better career. I didn’t want to do what I had been doing all my life,” says Luis, reflecting on how he decided to come into the trades. “I’ve helped my family by working so we’re not homeless. I was taught the old ways early on, how to have a good work ethic to achieve what you can.”

Luis is also keenly aware of everyone who has contributed to helping him get to where he is, both at his alma mater, Rosemont High School, where he was taught by ECD founder and instructor Dave Stafford, and here at the Sacramento Electrical Training Center.

“He’s so dedicated to his family and to the people around him,” says Mr. Stafford, now retired. “He has always had a great sense of humor and is just so respectful. I couldn’t be happier to hear he got this award.”

“I have never met someone with a better disposition than Luis, genuinely,” says Brendan Nelson, fourth-year instructor a1t the JATC. “He holds himself to an incredibly high standard and he has risen to the challenge without fail every single time. I can’t think of another person who deserves this more than him.”

When it comes to words of encouragement for up-and-coming apprentices, Luis is a fount of wisdom. His main message? Be the version of yourself you want to see.

“Don’t be afraid of what’s in the future,” says Luis. “Don’t dwell too much on your past or where you come from. It just doesn’t matter. You make yourself out who you want to be. Don’t let anyone doubt you about what your dreams will be, just keep pushing forward.”

For his hard work, Luis will receive a PACKOUT bag and hand tool from Milwaukee Tools and congratulations from the JATC and its staff.
