Milwaukee Tools Apprentice of the Month - Taras Levkiv
It is always good to know apprentices are learning and working hard throughout their apprenticeship. It’s equally nice to know that they are involved with the local and, especially, making strides to foster a new age of apprentice behind them. Fourth year Taras Levkiv is such an apprentice, proving himself to be a powerhouse on the job site and a great boon to the local through his activity as treasurer with RENEW (Reach out and Engage the Next generation of Electrical Workers).
“This apprenticeship has literally been lifechanging. I feel like it’s given me the chance to learn so much about the electrical industry and our hands-on labs have been a really big help.”
“Taras is just an all-around good dude,” says Dennis Caruso, third year instructor at the JATC. “He contributes a lot to in-class discussions and always steps up to help his fellow apprentices. He’s very involved with RENEW and that in itself is no small thing.”
“I wanted to find a way to get to know people in the local better,” says Taras as to why he got involved with RENEW. “It’s important because the local is the future of our careers. I wanted to be involved in that and I am proud to be able to be in the position I am.”
In addition to being involved with RENEW, Taras is also known for having a fantastic demeanor on the jobsite.
“He may very well be the best apprentice I’ve ever seen. He does everything with a frickin’ smile on his face,” says Jason Brown, Taras’ foreman at Studebaker Electric. “Attitude speaks volumes in what we do. Some days it’s hard to wake up and put your boots on, but it never seems that way for Taras. Seems like he’s never been in a bad mood his entire life.”
“This apprenticeship has literally been lifechanging. I feel like it’s given me the chance to learn so much about the electrical industry and our hands-on labs have been a really big help,” Taras says. “It’s also been great to work with journeymen who are willing to take their time to show us how to do things correctly. It’s been a very positive experience.”
For his hard work, Taras will receive a PACKOUT bag and hand tool from Milwaukee Tools as well as congratulations from all the staff at the Sacramento JATC.
