Milwaukee Tools Apprentice of The Month - Nick Sanchez

For some electricians, nothing beats having to only explain things once. On top of that, having the reliability of a high-delivering apprentice who works well in concert with you and who also has a great attitude to match is quite the double threat. So it is with Nick Sanchez, September’s Apprentice of the Month.

“The sense of accomplishment is extremely important to me, it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” says Nick, now a fifth year. “I was at a point in my career before becoming an electrician where I had just reached a ceiling. I wanted to advance and keep learning, but my job had become monotonous, boring. I can’t see an end in sight with my career now where I’m ever going to stop learning.”

Nick is known in the field for being quick to learn and steadfast in his approach to completing projects. His ability as an electrical apprentice and as a worker speaks highly about him, especially when that praise comes from his current journeyman, Matt Holliday.

“He’s an awesome apprentice, always takes initiative,” says Matt, a journeyman with Rosendin Electric. “He’s a stand-up guy in and off the job and his work ethic is second to none. I look forward to working for him; that’s the kind of guy he is.”

In addition to accolades from the field, Nick is also lauded for his work in the classroom, known for always ensuring he understands everything being taught and discussed.

“He’s the first to show and the last to leave every day,” says Brendan Nelson, fourth year instructor. “He never leaves the classroom unless he is sure he comprehended every single thing we went over. He’s always positive no matter what, he never says a bad thing, and he always just has a great attitude.”

“Don’t be afraid to tackle something you don’t know how to do, so long as it’s safe,” says Nick when asked what his advice to up-and-coming apprentices would be. “Volunteer for anything you can. This is the perfect time to learn and make mistakes, when the stakes are lower, and you’re supposed to be learning. You kind of have to have a gunslinger mentality about it so you can get as much exposure to as many things as possible.”

For his hard work, Nick will receive a PACKOUT bag and hand tool from Milwaukee Tools and congratulations from the JATC and its staff.
