Milwaukee Tools Apprentice of The Month - Jacob Hollingshead
In our trade we use lots of words as part of our professional code: loyalty, dedication, perseverance, and many others. When it comes to working in the electrical field, a steadfast ability to learn from your mistakes and to hold yourself to the highest standard is absolutely paramount. Occasionally you have an individual come along who embodies all these characteristics. In this example, our pick for apprentice of the month is Jacob Hollingshead, a fourth year.
“I would say one of the things that’s taught me the most is the journeymen I’ve had who model what a good electrician is. They’ve made me want to be the best I can be,” says Jacob. “A lot of the older guard is retiring, and that knowledge is dissipating. I want to be able to carry that forward, both the knowledge and the work ethic.”
Having worked for some time for Ledbetter Electric, Jacob cited one of his main influences as the owner and a journeyman he has worked with extensively, Shaune Ledbetter.
“He is an extremely hard-working individual that wants to always do the best that he can and succeed,” says Shaune. “He has always been very dedicated to the trade and to doing his personal best. He’s a loyal, family-oriented person who is dedicated to the people around him and a kind individual.”
When asked if he has any advice for apprentices who may be just starting out in the program, Jacob has some basic feedback: keep at it and be sure of your product.
“Don’t quit. Always be the person who can be confident in whatever they’ve done for the day,” says Jacob. “Know whatever you put your hands on is square and the best you could have made it.”
For his hard work, Jacob will receive a PACKOUT bag and hand tool from Milwaukee Tools and congratulations from the JATC and its staff.
