Milwaukee Tools Apprentice of The Month - Mauricio Harper

Having apprentices come in with experience is always a boon to our profession, especially when, after they get into the apprenticeship, they immediately start making a name for themselves. This month’s apprentice of the month is Mauricio Harper, a third year who has been in the trade for years and has garnered praises from the field and classroom for his abilities.

“I am learning more than I was expecting,” says Mauricio, who entered the apprenticeship as a third year due to his previous experience. “It makes me feel privileged this opportunity became available.”

When asked what his apprenticeship means to him, Mauricio is humble but firm that this is his path to betterment and improving his craft.

“Basically, this just makes my life easier. The more I know, the more I can solve any problem,” says Mauricio. “Anyone who goes through this, if they learn how the job is running, the more they can figure things out easier.”

When it comes to the classroom, Mauricio has been exemplary in his ambitions to learn the trade from the ground up even with his previous experience and knowledge.

“Mauricio is always awesome in the classroom,” says Brian Stauffer, third-year instructor. “He always has good questions and is always the first to ask if he doesn’t understand something. He’s a great student.”

“Don’t be afraid to ask when you don’t know what to do,” says Mauricio when asked if he has advice for lower classmen. “Don’t ever stand around. If you don’t know what to do next, ask and use that to get the job done.”

For his hard work, Mauricio will receive a PACKOUT bag and hand tools from Milwaukee Tools and congratulations from the JATC and its staff.
