Milwaukee Tools Apprentice of The Month - Anthony Lilley
One of the best things you can ask for from an apprentice is consistency of quality. This month’s apprentice of the month, Anthony Lilley, a fifth year now working for Schetter Electric, has been a source of that kind of consistency and drive that we love to see in the apprentices. Starting out as a material handler and working his way through the apprenticeship he has proven himself to be a boon to our industry. Match that with an attitude that can’t be beat and you have a person you would be happy to work alongside any day.
“I’ve been very lucky,” says Anthony. “This apprenticeship is part of progressing in this career I chose. This is something I never thought about in high school, never popped into my head. Since I’ve joined it’s been a way I can work with my hands and I’ve been consistently able to learn. It’s honestly been a blessing so far.”
Anthony has the support of his teachers at the apprenticeship and always makes sure he asks good questions that help him be the best apprentice and electrician he can.
“He has an absolutely fantastic attitude and work ethic and will no doubt make an indispensable journeyman for our local and the IBEW,” says Brendan Nelson, fourth year instructor. “On top of that, Anthony is just a genuine person, and it shows daily to anyone who knows him.”
“We are getting paid to go to school, work with our hands, make a ton of money—there’s nothing bad about working in the trades,” says Anthony. “I also strongly believe that you should take into account what apprentices have to say when you’re building or planning something, even lower years. We’re all adults and it’s important for them to throw out ideas. It helps them understand the process and how we get the ideas we do.”
For his hard work, Anthony will receive a PACKOUT bag and hand tools from Milwaukee Tools and congratulations from the JATC and its staff.
