Milwaukee Tools Apprentice of The Month - Chase Mora
Every year, the fifth-year apprentices gather on a Saturday for a comprehensive, labor-intensive, cumulative assessment. The day-long endeavor is comprised of different tests that span the entire apprenticeship from motor control to 3-way switching to advanced conduit bending. Each year there is a standout apprentice who manages to receive the highest score on the tests and this year that apprentice was Chase Mora. As a result, the JATC can think of no better candidate for apprentice of the month, especially with graduation happening in May, than Chase for his outstanding scores but also for his incredible work in the field and classroom.
“Honestly, it’s nothing too crazy,” says Chase about his fifth-year performance test. “It’s all based on stuff we do in the field. If you’ve been applying yourself during the five years in school and in the field, it’s just a matter of using that knowledge on the assessment.”
No matter how nonchalant Chase seems about his performance test, it remains a sometimes-grueling challenge for some. However, Chase has time and time again proven his worth in our field with his ability to learn and ask questions in the classroom.
“Chase is one of those apprentices who has just delivered on every front,” says Jacob Smith, fifth year instructor. “I genuinely feel that you can throw anything at Chase and he will just learn it, replicate it, and perfect it. He will be a huge asset to the Union as a journeyman and I know he will thrive in this field.”
In addition to accolades from his instructor, Chase has also made quite an impression on those with whom he works.
“Chase is by far a phenomenon,” says Chad Frandsen, a general foreman with Stephen’s Electric and someone who has worked with Chase for multiple years. “Nobody gets it this quick. He is absolutely top notch and by far the best apprentice I’ve ever worked with.”
“My apprenticeship has been great,” says Chase, now readying for his graduation from the program. “This whole opportunity has given me a career for me and my family. I have always tried to get the most out of my apprenticeship and I feel like I also made many lifelong friends along the way.”
For his hard work, Chase will receive a PACKOUT bag and hand tool from Milwaukee Tools and congratulations from all the staff at the Sacramento JATC.
