Earn credits toward a college degree while training to be a Union electrician.
American River College is the proud Local Education Agency (LEA) of the Sacramento Electrical Training Center. What this means is that:
- The instructors at the Training Center are also adjunct professors at American River College.
- The units earned during your apprenticeship training count as college credits toward an Associate Degree in Electrical Apprenticeship (you’ll still need to complete your general education units).
- You will be a student at American River College — complete with a student ID — with access to the school’s resources.
- It’s not only a free college education, but a free college education you receive while earning a living and training to be a Union electrician.
- Enjoy additional educational opportunities like AutoCad and Welding classes available through American River College. The JATC Trust will reimburse the cost for tuition and actual book fees (not to exceed $100) for completing (C or better) the class. (The member must submit receipts for tuition and books).
First opened in 1955, American River College is one of the largest community colleges in the state, located just northwest of Sacramento.
