Sacramento Electrical Training Center

Northern California's premiere electrical training program prepares and trains the next generation of organized electrical workers for jobs that last a lifetime.

The Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) has decades of experience bringing together the IBEW and NECA to meet the challenges of the 21st century. The JATC, the educational arm of NECA and IBEW Local 340, oversees the Sacramento and Shasta-Butte Electrical Apprenticeship programs.

The Sacramento Electrical Training Center is one of the largest schools of its kind on the West Coast and is accredited through American River College, the premiere community college in the Sacramento area. American River College is the Local Educational Agency of the Training Center, which employs professionally certified instructors who are experts in the electrical trade. These instructors, who are also Adjunct Professors with American River College, are currently teaching several hundred students to be the best-trained professional electricians ready to meet the growing electrical workload needs of the Sacramento/Shasta-Butte areas.

The JATC is governed by representatives of labor (IBEW Local Union 340) and management (Greater Sacramento Chapter of NECA). A consultant from the State of California's Division of Apprenticeship Standards provides policy guidance to the JATC, as does the Training Director who leads the day-to-day operations of the Training Center. The Sacramento Electrical Training Center's 16,000-square-foot training facility contains six classrooms, one computer lab with 12 learning stations, a large conduit bending and motor control lab and an outdoor training mock-up area along with administrative offices. Our hands-on training is the hallmark feature of the apprentice program along with the knowledge of the "whys" of the trade.
